Reports

Seneschal- reports are due right now. Has only received one report, so ALL other officers please respond asap.

Cerdic has made cool sca fliers to hang at the college in hopes of gleaning interest.

Kit will put them up.

Exchequer not present so no financial report, but we have more than last month because of the wall. (Feel better soon, Runa, we miss you!)

Final check was written on the Coulee Dam acct and it will close.

Deputy exchequer needed, any interested please notify Killian.

Arts and Science report is complete. Charters for painting were received from Kingdom, but were damaged, so we are hoping for another set.

Fundraising

The Dred Wall was rented to the Wenatchee Ren faire as planned; we have received $500 for it already. There are two torn walls needing work; not repaired last year, all strings need improved and two still need painting. Some wooden poles have broken and portable holes have dwindled in number slightly and more will be needed if we make more wall panels. Oso proposed putting some of the money earned back into maintenance and repair. Aelfwynn seconded, all in favor. The making of more walls was discussed favorably as it is likely it would be recovered in future rentals. The wall is now ten years old (can you believe it?) and in time whole pieces may need to be discarded from age, and we’ll have turnover.  Ihon will contact Tai for current canvas prices. Oso will contact the music festival people to see if they will be asking for the wall again in June. Dates for repair set: Sun May 15, 10 am -1 pm dojo, sewing repairs and wind slits covered. Pole repair will take place at the next shire meeting, Thursday May 26. 7pm. Killians omak

A crown event bid was discussed again; we’ve gotten more encouragement from Kingdom to do a crown event. The Tonasket Rodeo grounds are an affordable site and even with smaller turnouts we stand to make money for the kingdom and ourselves.

There was discussion about the challenge of getting all jobs covered and still be able to “play” at the event. Killian proposed that if members of each discipline (heavy fighting, rapier, archery, equestrian, a&s)  were to commit to the pre-working for the activities needed in advance, and set up and take down, it could be accomplished with the inevitable help that comes with the Kingdom officers and attending populace.

The key would be a strong team so no one person is overwhelmed, and we definitely want to partner with Cranehaven and Amberguard. A positive discussion was had and we will continue dialogue with kingdom for 2012 events.

Ben Franklin performance- Sir Master Brand will be in Tonasket doing his Ben Franklin performance in November and the shire could benefit by helping him find venues in Omak. The College and the Bread Line are two possibilities to look into. More on that next meeting.
