Dregate General meeting March 22, 2009

Location Community Cultural Center Tonasket

Attending: Dalbach, Ihon, Dubeasa, Sasparillius, Conual, Broc, Leona, Sven, Nora, Kai, Rhyanon, Oso

Dalbach called the meeting to order at 2:25pm

Reports:

Seneschal: Dalbach stated that all officers will be expected to report quarterly at in writing and at meetings, in conjunction with Kingdom reports. If you have nothing to report for the previous quarter, be thinking of what you could be doing in your office for the next quarter. If you need help coming up with ideas, speak up!

Exchequer: Ihon reported that the shire Domesday report has been handed into Kingdom.

Our current coffer holds $1443.92

Numbers on Red Lantern not completely tallied yet, is thought that we probably broke even.

Herald: Kai reports he helped Nora with her heraldry this month. Dalbach asked if Kai could provide any records of Dregate members’ heraldry whether it’s passed or not. Kai will look in the Chroniclers box for what has been recorded.

Chronicler: Lachlan not in attendance. Dalbach reported the next Creaking is near completion. Needless to say, articles, cartoons, jokes, classifieds etc are always welcome, please forward them to Lachlan. Dregate Bulletin board will be ran again, lost and found, rides needed, items for sale or wanted…it’s your newsletter, use it!

Arts & Science : Aelfwynn out with the plague today, so Oso reported that the arrow making workshop went well, at least seven people worked on arrows. Dubeassa related her experience with the new war arrow while at Oasis last week.

Discussed next months A&S, people agreed to a A&S social combined with next months shire meeting. Have a project to work on, its time to start this years A&S entry!

Gold Key: Leona has made repairs on garb, everything is clean and sorted, and in tubs.

Chatelaine: Rhyanon reported that Twisp is having its Centennial year and there will probably be several choices of events that we might tie the Dregate Faire into. She will keep us posted.

Marshal: Nora reported that fighter practices have been well attended. Dalbach added that the Kingdom has reminded all branches that waivers need to be sent in quarterly. Nora will bring waivers, so have your blue card with you at practices. Fighter cards are not required for practices, but it’s a good idea to be in the habit of keeping them with your kit.

The offices of Rapier Marshal and Archery marshal were filled by Dalbach and Leona, respectively. They will report to Nora.

It was discussed that we need local Marshals of all arts and hope that in the next couple of months we can get some SR. Marshals here to do classes and get people authorized as Jr. Marshals so when they go to events over the summer they can get experience.

Iron Key: Broc reports an assortment of loaner armor, but if fighters have pieces of armor to spare there is always a need for more.

Grateboke: Mellisa not in attendance, more plague. Conual suggested that as part of the shire history, everyone do their own autobiography which will include a photo, persona info, offices held, championships held, special interests, etc. Oso offered to make a template for people to use if they chose.

Chamberlain: Garvin was not in attendance, but Dalbach requested we put a date on the calendar for a cleanup/organization of regalia.

Equestrian: Nora reported the equestrians had a meeting in February and now that the ground and weather are improving we can start thinking about practices. (Ed. note, see equestrian minutes for more detail)

Warlord: Conual reported a good turnout of Dregate fighters at the War on the Oasis. He strongly encourages people begin planning for Sport of Kings (august 20-22) and Art of War (spring 2010). He notices interest in a warband and encourages fighters to look at what interest and commitment they have for this effort.

  Past Events:

Red Lantern: went very well despite Autocrat nightmare #3, becoming disabled two days before the event. Huzzahs to Mellisa for having her ducks in a row, and to Lachlan for jumping in and herding them on short notice.

There was a good turnout, the slaves worked hard and everyone ate grandly!

Upcoming Events:

Culinary event: Autocrat team formed-Oso, Leona, Rhyanon, Sasparillius. They will meet after this meeting for preliminary planning.

Fur and Feather Tavern : Dalbach brought up the idea of a Fur and Feather style fundraiser. It could be open to the public per prepaid tickets with the right advertising. We would include food games and entertainment for the cost of their ticket. It could serve as a dual fundraiser and recruitment effort. Arts and Science displays could be incorporated, merchants welcomed, shire members would take part in creating the ambiance of the event for the benefit of the public attendees.

It was agreed that we would ask Cerdic if he’d like to be behind the counter, as it wouldn’t be the Fur and Feather without him. An autocrat team will be needed!

Personal Dregate Regalia: Dalbach asked people what they thought about everyone in the shire having a sash with a history of their service signified with badges of those offices. It would serve as a history, tie in with the bio’s, and be a source of unity for all shire members. The idea seemed well received, a mantle was suggested instead as it is a piece of functional garb. At the very least, the kingdom populace badge and a personal device would adorn them.

Officer Regalia: that discussion led into necklaces of offices that would be passed from term to term. People liked the idea of tying this in with a glass beadmaking class.
